Do your people have the right to chat?

PCs may have made some things simpler, but they have also complicated a lot of things. You may watch your employees. Nobody just sits around. You may never be sure if these people are actually doing what they are supposed to. Is spying really a viable option? Or is there probably a more honest and transparent way of employee monitoring?

In the past the choice for bosses who wanted some control was limited. Only spyware was available for computer monitoring . Spyware is the name for computer applications that make screenshots, copy text the user inputs into their computer, observe traffic. So you get control. What happens is that workers begin having bad thoughts about you. You can lose respect of your people, because you are effectively violating their privacy.

There's good news too. We have created a special program that effectively resolves the issue. It is a system of internet monitoring called Work Examiner. It allows for transparent system of monitoring and self monitoring that does not violate privacy, because it monitors the time spent online rather than traffic (unlike various proxies). Such a system makes control not only easy, but also useful.

Work Examiner comes in two versions: standard and pro. Both versions administer application usage, websites attended, how much time they spend doing what tasks. Both versions allow restrictions on access to selected websites or applications. The Professional version allows for different access rights to employee statistic so that everybody has only the access to the data the have the right to see.

Recalling the problem we started with, i.e. spying, you may see that using our software application you do not get screen shots or some sensitive data you do not need. Instead you receive cleverly crafted computer monitoring reports regarding the time and application use. More importantly, this system encourages self monitoring and more proper time use by your underlingsmotivates your employees to use work time more efficiently and self-monitor their own computer use.
